Uttar Pradesh is having a large goat population of 144.80 lakh as per 2019 Livestock Census with the quinquennial growth contribute significantly in goat milk and meat production. The average milk productivity is 0.76 kg. per day. Goats are reared by the small resource poor farmers with lack of financial inputs. The goats are sold on live goat basis for meat purposes while the goat meat is sold in kg. Therefore, the mechanism shall be evolved for selling the goat on live meat basis. Extensive vaccination program against PPR with 100% coverage as well as parasitic control program shall be taken up year to year for increasing goat production and productivity.
It has been proposed to help 50 families per district per year therefore a total number of 11250 families will be covered in a period of three years. All identified families will be provided 5 female goat and one Buck. This support will help in increasing family income from 22000 to 25000 in three years.
